Hi ManCavers.
I talk quite a bit about things related to beer on The Man Cave Blog. We’ve chatted about neon beer signs, We have talked about why you should have a kegerator, heck even our man cave rules state that drinking is encouraged. But WHAT are we drinking?
Every few Tuesdays I will be taking a look at 5 of my favorite and most interesting craft beers that you really should try.
Here are my 5 favorite California craft beers:
1. Stone Smoked Porter – Stone Brewing Co., San Diego CA. This is a rich dark porter with a smokey kick that pairs brilliantly with meat, BBQ, or event dessert. The Smoked Porter is packed with flavor and meant to be savored.
2. Red Tail Ale – Mendocino Brewing Co., Ukiah CA. Their flagship brew, this Amber Ale is complex yet refreshing. It’s rich flavor perfectly compliments even the heartiest meal.
3. Eel River Organic California Blonde – Eel River Brewing Co., Scotia CA. Sometimes I just can’t help but order the “California Blonde” from the brewery who’s motto is “Be Natural, Drink Naked”. This light and crisp blonde is the ultimate refreshment on a hot day.
4. Pliny the Elder – Russian River Brewing Co., Sonoma CA. This double IPA has a robust bitter hops flavor with a smooth and delicious finish. Brewed is limited batches, and meant to be enjoyed immediately, Pliny can be hard to come by, so drink it if you can!
5. BJ’s Jeremiah Red – BJ’s Brewhouse, Multiple Locations in CA and Nationally. Started in CA, BJ’s helped to bring the microbrew restaurant mainstream. The Jeremiah Red is a bold Red Irish Ale with balanced flavor and a slight hint of fruity sweetness.
So there you have it, these are some of the best of what I’m drinking in California. What are you guys drinking out there? Leave a comment and let me know!
So, if you are interested in trying some new craft beers, a beer of the month club is a great thing to try and makes an awesome gift. 2 of these beers above were discovered in my own beer of the month club that I received for my birthday a few years back.
